Beijing's discipline inspection and supervisory commissions at various levels punished 434 local cadres, who were found to be involved in illegal economic incentive cases, in the first half of the year.
Cheng Shi'e, secretary of the municipal commission for discipline inspection, revealed the figure at a press conference Monday, warning all officials not to receive any kind of bribe, such as cash or securities. The regulations about arranging work positions for the offspring of ranking leaders should also be applied among cadres at lower ranks, according to Monday's Beijing Evening News.
All municipal-level leaders had reported their family finance conditions to the central government by May of this year, and cadres at various levels in the city turned in cash and securities worth of 286,100 yuan (nearly 34,500 U.S. dollars) during the first half of the year, the newspaper quoted the commission source as saying.
