First-half Blitz Gives Dalian 6-1 Victory Over Shaanxi

Dalian Shide remained on top of Chinese soccer first division with an easy 6-1 win over Shaanxi Guoli at Dalian on Sunday.

After the 17th round, Dalian Shide led the league with 41 points, 6 points ahead Shanghai Shenhua, which lost to Chongqing Lifan 3-0 at Chongqing, southwest China.

Dalian Shide were rewarded for their attacking and early pressure in the first half. Two goals each from Hao Haidong and Yan Song sealed a early victory for the home side. Wang Peng and Zou Jie added one goal each and Dalian led 6-0 into the break.

Shaanxi Guoli tightened up in the second half and Dalian Shide lost some of their bite, Brazilian Douglas Roberto dos Santos scored a free-kick at injury time to give Shaanxi their only goal.

Sichuan Shangwutong, led by Bobby Houghton, stopped their losing series with a 1-0 win at home over Liaoning Fushun and climbed to the fourth place.

In other actions on Sunday, Shenyang Jinde lost to Tianjin Taida 2-1, slumped Shandong Luneng managed a 2-0 win over Beijing Guo'an, Bayi Zhenbang overcame Qingdao Beer 2-1 while Yunnan Hongta drew with Shenzhen Kejian 0-0.
