The 2001 International Sculpture Exhibition opened Sunday in Shengli Park in this capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.

More than 100 sculptures selected from a dozen countries including China, Russia, the United States, Britain and France are expected to be on show at the exhibition.

With a theme of peace, friendship and development, the exhibition will highlight outstanding sculptures as well as art exchanges between Chinese artists and their overseas counterparts.

The exhibition is the fourth one held in Changchun since 1997.
