Foreign Trade of Xiamen SEZ on RiseXiamen, one of China's five special economic zones (SEZ), did a foreign trade of 5.16 billion US dollars in the first six months of the year, up 11.5 percent from a year earlier.Xiamen is a coastal city in Fujian Province and its first half-year foreign trade accounted for 48.4 of the province's total. Customs statistics show that Xiamen's exports in the six months reached 3.01 billion US dollars, and imports amounted to 2.14 billion US dollars, up 9.1 percent and 15 percent, respectively, year on year. But the growth rate for the half year dropped by 0.7 percent for imports and 3.7 percent for exports compared with the January- May period, because of weak demand from the city's major international markets including the United States, whose economy is slowing down, said customs sources. |
