China's Largest Sugar Refinery Affected by Floods

The largest sugar refinery group in China continued production even though it has been affected by heavy floods, which hit the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China recently.

All machines in the factory that were not submerged by the floods continued operation. The workshops that were heavily flooded had a combined daily output value of 4 million yuan (482, 000 US dollars), sources said.

President Yang Herong said if the water level drops by 1.5 meters, the factory will be capable of resuming full production within 30 hours.

The refinery is one of the most seriously affected plants by floods in the region. So far two thirds of workshops are still soaked in the floods.
