Spanish King Congratulates China for Beijing's Olympic Designation
Spanish King Juang Carlos congratulated China Friday for its designation to host Olympic Games 2008.
In a telegram addressed to Chinese President Jiang Zemin, King Juan Carlos looked forward to a successful preparation of the Olympic competitions in the Asian giant.
In a meeting in Moscow, Russia, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) granted Beijing the right to host the games with a majority of 56 votes.
Other cities bidding for the Olympiads in 2008, were Toronto (Canada), Paris (France), Istanbul (Turkey), and Osaka (Japan).
