AOC President Hails Beijing's Olympic Win

President of the Asian Olympic Council (AOC) on Friday hailed Beijing's Olympic win and said Beijing will stage an excellent Olympic Games in 2008.

"The choice of Beijing is a big honour and a victory for Asia," said Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahd Al-Sabah after the International Olympic Committee had voted in favour of the Chinese capital in Moscow.

"As president of the Asian Olympic Council I am very happy with this choice," he added.

The Asian Olympic chief also said that the vote was logical because it was Asia's turn and especially because Europe will stage the Olympic Games of 2004 in Athens.
