Senior Chinese Leader Visits Expo on Reproductive Health

Senior Chinese leader Li Ruihuan Thursday visited the country's first exposition on new technology and products for family planning and reproductive health.

During his visit to the exposition, held at the Beijing Exhibition Building, Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, asked questions concerning the commercialization of technological achievements in family planning.

Li is also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Organized by the State Family Planning Commission (SFPC), the exposition opened Wednesday, marking the World Population Day.

In addition to traditional contraceptives, new technologies and products for treatment of sterility, sexual hygiene, diagnosis and prevention of congenital ailments, prevention of AIDS and other venereal diseases are also included in the expo.

Nearly 300 domestic and overseas research institutes, enterprises and international organizations are attending the expo.
