Shanghai Party Chief Meets APEC Young Business Leaders

Shanghai Party chief Huang Ju met Thursday with heads of delegations from 21 APEC member economies attending the APEC Youth Festival- APEC Young Leaders/ Entrepreneurs Forum

Huang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, said that with the deepening of reform and opening up, the trade and economic cooperation between Shanghai and countries and regions across the world, especially APEC member economies, has witnessed rapid progress.

Of the top ten countries and regions that trade with Shanghai in terms of trade volume, eight are APEC members, he said, stressing that this city is proud of hosting the APEC series of meetings.

Canadian National Revenue Minister Martin Cauchon said that the forum provides excellent opportunities for young business leaders from APEC member economies to exchange their views.

Participants of the forum, which runs from July 9 to 13, include young business leaders, scholars and governmental officials from all 21 APEC member economies.
