Sino-EU Training Program Underway

A total 280 employees from 24 Sino-European joint ventures Friday began their four training courses funded by the Sino-EU Vocational Industry Training Program in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.

The classes covered procurement, finance and accounting, project management and advanced equipment maintenance, said a spokesman for the program.

The China-EU Vocational Industry Training Program is a joint project sponsored by the Chinese Government and the European Union to enhance the skills of employees of EU-backed companies located in China.

The EU agreed to provide 15.1 million euros, and the Hubei Provincial Government will also contribute 380,000 euros to train the workers.

The five-year program was launched last year.

A provincial official in charge of education said the program is of special significance for improving investment environment in Hubei, enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises, and for promoting vocational education in China.
