Shanghai Hosts International Symposium on Urban Planning

An international symposium on urban planning opened Thursday at Tongji University in Shanghai, the leading commercial center of China.

Nearly 1,000 city planning and urbanology experts from over 60 countries and regions including China, France, the United States, Japan and India are participating in the symposium.

Discussions will focus on developments in the field of city planning in the new century.

The symposium is jointly sponsored by four prestigious associations of city programming colleges and universities in America, Europe, Oceania and Asia.

The participants from 338 universities and institutes across the world will present 730 academic papers and host 173 seminar in the fields of human living environments, city planning, information technology, and city management in developing countries.
