Vietnamese Delegation Visits Shanghai

Huang Ju, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met Thursday with a Vietnamese delegation.

The delegation is being led by Nguyen Phu Trong, a politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and secretary of the CPV Hanoi municipal committee.

Huang, also secretary of the CPC Shanghai municipal committee, said Shanghai had its rapidest development in the 1990s, when economic restructuring was a success and the city's outlook was greatly changed.

He expressed the belief that friendly cooperation between Shanghai and Hanoi would be deepened in the new century.

Nguyen said Hanoi and Shanghai, which maintain close economic and trade contacts, have cooperated well in trade, contracted construction projects and the hosting of exhibitions.

He expressed the hope that his visit could boost the friendly ties between the two cities.

The delegation arrived here Thursday from Beijing.
