Journalism Award Launched for Financial, Economic News Reporting

The journalism school of the People's University of China and the US-based Citibank Group will give a joint award for outstanding news reports on finance and economy.

The award is for Chinese journalists and meant to improve the quality of professional news reporting on finance and economy, Beijing Morning Post reported.

There are two prizes under the award: for best news reporting on enterprises, investment, finance and economy; and for best individual news reporting on consumption, finance and economy.

A panel of experts from the fields of education, press, finance, economy and industry will select the top articles based on news value, innovation and social impact.

All financial and economic news reports published between September 1, 2000 and August 31, 2001 are eligible for this year's award.

The first prize winner will receive a fully paid two-week training course at the Columbia University School of Journalism in the United States.
