GCC Calls for Unbiased Policies Towards Palestinians, IsraelThe foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states on Wednesday called for unbiased policies towards the Palestinians and Israelis in a bid to achieve peace in the Middle East, Kuwait News Agency reported. At the end of their one-day urgent meeting, held in the Saudi Red Sea city of Jeddah, the ministers warned against keeping silent over the escalating situation in the Middle East which is threatening the regional security and stability, the news agency said. After reviewing the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, they emphasized the need for quickly putting an end to the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinians, and called for the deployment of an international force to monitor the volatile areas. The meeting, which was called by Saudi Arabia, also urged an immediate lifting of the Israeli siege on the Palestinian people. The GCC ministers called on the Arab follow-up committee, established at the emergency Arab summit, held last October in Cairo, to hold an urgent meeting to discuss the situation in the Palestinian lands, as well as looking into the possibility of holding an emergency meeting of the Arab League. The GCC, a regional political and economic alliance established in 1981, includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
