The 8th China Advertisement Festival is to be held from October 17 to 20 in Xiamen, this scenic city in the eastern province of Fujian, the organizing committee said Wednesday.

Founded in 1986 in Beijing, this festival will stage a wide variety of exhibitions featuring photos, books, technology and equipment, award-winning ads from China and other countries and ad media.

The exhibitions, covering a total of 30,000 square meters, are expected to attract 30,000 people, the committee said.

Experts from the American 4A ad association, Coke Cola and famous American ad company Grey will give lectures during the festival.

During the period from 1991 to 2000, China's ad industry developed at an annual growth rate of 39.7 percent. By the end of 2000, the country had 70,000 advertisement enterprises, employing 640,000 people and recording an annual turnover of 71.2 billion yuan (8.6 billion US dollars).
