Banquet Held for 40th Anniversary of China-DPRK TreatyThe Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) held a banquet Wednesday evening, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance Between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and Secretary General Kim Yun Hyok of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly attended the banquet. CPAFFC President Chen Haosu said the treaty has laid a solid base for the friendship between the two countries and has stood tests of the time. Abiding by the treaty, the two countries comprehensively promoted their relationship, enhanced each other's development and safeguarded Asian and world peace, he said. China will consistently solidify and promote the traditional friendship with the DPRK, he said. Secretary General Kim Yun Hyok said that after signing the treaty 40 years ago, the Worker's Party of Korea and the Communist Party of China and the people of the two countries have supported and cooperated with each other for a better relationship. He said he believes that with concerted efforts, the two sides will further their friendly relations in the new century.
