Early Copy of "Red Star Over China" Found

An early copy of "Red Star over China", a well-known work by late American journalist Edgar Snow, was recently found in Danyang city of east China's Jiangsu Province, according to a local media report.

The copy, complete with 456 pages except for the cover, is a family heirloom that has been passed on for three generations.

Snow, considered as an "old friend" of the Chinese people, was the first foreign journalist to write in-depth reports on the Chinese Communist Party and the Red Army.

He met with Mao Zedong and other Chinese leaders after arriving at the Red Army base in Bao'an of Shaanxi Province in 1936, and later wrote "Red Star Over China" which caught world's attention upon its publication.

The newly found copy, published in Shanghai in February 1938, is a first edition of the Chinese version.
