President Jiang Congratulates APEC Youth Festival

Chinese President Jiang Zemin sent a congratulatory letter to the APEC Youth Festival-APEC Young Leaders/Entrepreneurs Forum, which opened Wednesday in Shanghai.

Zhou Qiang, first secretary of secretariat of the Central Committee of Communist Youth League of China read the letter at the opening ceremony.

In the letter, Jiang extended congratulations to the meeting on behalf of the Chinese government, Chinese people and in his own name.

He noted that humankind has already entered the 21st century; confronted with both opportunity and challenge, it is a wise and high vision for the APEC to strengthen human resource capacity building, to make it an important guarantee for realizing sustainable development and prosperity in the region and to focus on fostering young talents.

He stressed that it is meaningful for youth representatives from APEC member economies to be gathered here today to share each other's successful experience and deliberate on how to promote common prosperity.

Jiang voiced his belief that the APEC Youth Festival-APEC Young Leaders/Entrepreneurs Forum will certainly become an important arena for young talents from the Asia-Pacific region to learn new Knowledge, foster creative ideas and pursue economic cooperation.
