22 Indian Fishermen Under Sri Lankan Custody Released

n fishermen held in the Jaffna prison in the north of the country on Tuesday due to their unstable physical conditions, officials said.
Jaffna district court judge R.T. Vicknarajah ordered the Sri Lanka Navy to hand over the Indian fishermen and their equipment to the Indian authorities as soon as possible.
The Indian fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy for poaching within its territorial waters. They are held prisons in the north of the island country, awaiting the Attorney General's verdict on their detention.
Indian and Sri Lankan are currently in talks to grant a general amnesty to fishermen detained in each other's country. A total of 61 Sri Lankan fishermen are held in South Indian detention centers.
