China to Hold International Defense Electronics Exhibition

The 3rd China International Defense Electronics Exhibition (CIDEX2002) will be held in Beijing on April 1, 2002, according to a news briefing on the matter Tuesday.

The scheduled four-day show is being organized by the China National Electronics Import and Export Corp. (CEIEC) and the Beijing Xinlong Electronics Technology Company, Ltd.

The show space will be 8,000 square meters and the items on display will consist of telecommunications systems, information systems, computer and network products, military electronic components, air traffic control communications systems, fire control products, radar systems, electronic support and reconnaissance systems and related equipment and testing systems.

Qian Benyuan, president of the CEIEC, said that electronic technology, with its further application in the defense field, has become one of the vital factors in future wars. CIDEX is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for strengthening international exchange and cooperation, noted Qian.

The CIDEX began in 1998 and the second exhibition was staged last year, when nearly 200 companies from such countries as China, Israel, Germany, the U.S., Britain, France participated.
