HK to Launch Government Bills Payment Through Post Offices

Hongkong Post and the Treasury Department Tuesday signed a Service Level Agreement to enable government bills to be paid through Hongkong Post's PayThruPost service in October.

At the signing ceremony, Postmaster General Luk Ping-chuen said, "We are happy to work in collaboration with Treasury and other government departments."

"With the extension of the PayThruPost service to accepting payment for government bills, we are able to provide the public with a more convenient one-stop payment service."

The PayThruPost service of Hongkong Post was first launched in April 2000. Members of the public can settle their utility bills by cash or cheque at any of the 126 post offices.

According to the Service Level Agreement signed today, Hongkong Post will provide government bill payment service at 126 post offices as from 3 October this year.

These bills include various demand notes issued by Rating and Valuation Department, Water Supplies Department, Student Financial Assistance Agency, Hong Kong Police Force, Education Department, and so on.
