FM Spokeswoman on Japanese History Textbook

China's stance on the issue of Japanese history textbook is consistent and clearcut, and Japan should take effective measures to properly handle the matter.

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue made the remark at the regular press conference here Tuesday when answering related questions.

Noting that she made clear China's stance on Monday, Zhang reiterated that the textbook, compiled by Japanese right-wing forces, attempts to gloss over and deny the facts of the invasions launched by Japanese militarists.

She said the Chinese side cannot accept and is strongly dissatisfied with the Japanese government's decision.

Zhang said that Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan held talks Tuesday with visiting secretaries-general of three ruling coalition parties of Japan, during which Tang again expounded on China's stance and reiterated that the Japanese side should sincerely consider the appeal of Asian nations, including China, that have suffered from the war.
