IAST Holds Conference in MacaoThe biennial conference of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism (IAST) was held Tuesday in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
The IAST members will present their ideas on future development and trends of the world's tourism and hospitality industry as well as their research papers.
The IAST consists of an exclusive and prestigious group of scholars, professionals and consultants of the World Tourism Organization and industry practitioners in the field of tourism and hospitality.
The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies hopes to develop close links with the IAST as the host of the 2001 conference, authorities said.
The tourism and gambling industry is the most important economic pillar for Macao, which received 9.16 million visitors last year.
