Flood Danger Remains But Daily Life Unaffected

The danger of flooding in the Nanning, capital city of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will continue, forecasted the regional Flood Control Headquarters. However, the daily lives of local residents there remains unaffected.

Mo Meifeng who lives in the western part of the city went to a nearby supermarket to do her weekly shopping as usual.

Qin Xiaolu sipping a cup of ice water at an underground cafe told Xinhua, "I don't panic. I believe that the government and servicemen will control the flood."

The supermarket manager Huang Huiwen said that prices of vegetables, rice and meat have kept stable thanks to the government's efforts.

The water and power supply as well as transportation services are operating normally. No reports of abnormal service at banks or cinemas have been reported.

Typhoons Civet Durian and Utor have swept over the region in the past week, causing heavy rainfall and flooding rarely seen almost in the past century.
