Shanghai Bell Outlines Next Generation Network

Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. has recently aroused the attention of the information technology industry with a proposal on the development of the next generation network (NGN).

Experts here say that Shanghai Bell's proposal, based on an NGN solution, a mobile communication solution and a wideband connection solution, has taken into account the long-term development as well as the current focal issues of China's communication network construction.

The NGN solution, based upon the presently available network resources and an open network frame, aims to provide diverse services including voice, data and multimedia.

With strong expandability, Shanghai Bell's NGN allows full use of the existing network equipment. While the solution supports special services such as enhanced multimedia communication, personal routing and enhanced paging services, it can provide new services effectively and at minimal costs in any open environment.

Shanghai Bell's mobile communication solution, a 3G system that conforms to IMT-2000 technical standards, allows sustained development of the network on the existing equipment and ensures network stability.

Sources from Shanghai Bell say that the company has applied for patents on twelve 3G technologies.

The wideband connection solution, based on diverse wideband connection products such as ADSL, Ethernet dial-up and cable modem, can adapt to different network environment, provide different network structures to meet the needs of different users, and enable service providers to provide more timely and diverse services at lower prices.
