Russia-China Trade Up 43.4 Percent in First 5 Months

Trade turnover between Russia and China reached 3.79 billion US dollars in the first five months of 2001, up 43.4 percent from one year earlier, the Russian State Statistics Committee said Monday.

Russia's trade surplus totaled 2.05 billion dollars. Since 1992, Russia has posted a surplus of over 22.45 billion dollars in trading with China, the committee said in a latest report.

In the period of January-May, Russia's exports to China totaled 2.92 billion dollars, up 51.2 percent year-on-year, while its imports from China added up to 0.87 billion dollars, up 22.2 percent.
