Offprint and Guidance Materials of Jiang's Speech Sell Well in Shanghai
The supply of the offprint of Jiang Zemin's speech made on July 1 at the meeting in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) fell short of demand after it was first distributed in Shanghai on July 3.
According to persons concerned of the wholesale center of Shanghai Xinhua Bookstore, the center ordered 100,000 books of the offprint from Shanghai People's Publishing House on July 2. With the rapid increase in sales volume, it ordered additional 100,000 copies on July 3. By July 5, the 200,000 pamphlets of "Jiang's Speech" published here had all been sold out. There is still an order of 10,000 books being out of stock. Shanghai People's Publishing House promptly printed another 50,000 copies on July 5 and sent them into the market at the noontime of July 6. The enthusiasm of Shanghai citizens in purchasing "Jiang's Speech" ran to an unprecedented high. Statistics released from Shanghai Book City at 10:00 a.m. on July 6 show that 6231 books of "Jiang's Speech" were sold to individuals.
Meanwhile, 10 kinds of guidance reading materials on Jiang's speech published by eight publishing houses had been delivered to Shanghai in succession. Two of them, "Guidance for the Study on Jiang Zemin's Speech given at the Grand Gathering Marking the 80th Founding Anniversary of the CPC" (CPC's History Edition) and "Q&A Regarding the Study of Jiang's Speech on July 1" (Reading Material Edition on Party Building), have been made available for residents, Others will also be successively put on counters.
