Facts and Figures: Monthly Foreign Trade in 2001

The following are figures about China's monthly foreign trade in 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

January: total, 32.345 billion U.S. dollars, up 1 percent from the same month last year; exports, 16.802 billion U.S. dollars, up 0.1 percent; imports, 15.543 billion U.S. dollars, up 1.9 percent.

February: total, 37.292 billion U.S. dollars, up 32.2 percent from the same month last year; exports, 19.069 billion U.S. dollars, up 29 percent; imports, 18.224 billion U.S. dollars, up 35.7 percent.

March: total, 43.766 billion U.S. dollars, up 15.4 percent from the same month last year; exports, 23.019 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.3 percent; imports, 20.747 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.5 percent.

April: total, 44.651 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.9 percent from the same month last year; exports, 22.792 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.1 percent; imports, 21.859 billion U.S. dollars, up 19.1 percent.

May: total, 39.622 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.9 percent from the same month last year; exports, 20.814 billion U.S. dollars, up 3.5 percent; imports 18.809 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.9 percent.
