Colombia: Full Security for American Cup

Colombia's government confirmed its conviction that security measures for "Americas' Football Cup" are optimal and invited foreigners to visit Colombia without fear to enjoy the sporting tournament.

Certain of the security measures reported by the national police in company of DAS (Security Administrative Department), are Army and relief organisms in Colombia, which consist of 20,000 men, 3 security rings, the take-over of stadiums 48 hours before each game, plus top technology,

Head of National Police, General Luis Ernesto Gilibert, maintained on Saturday that in Cali, Medellin, Armenia, Manizales, Barranquilla, Pereira and Bogota, there will be special security going from air terminals to hotels and sporting places in order to prevent any attack that could affect celebration of "Cup of the Americas".

Colombia's customs' authorities as well, put in motion a plan for easing migration procedures of delegations, tourists and newspaper teams that'll attend the fooball tournament which begins on Wednesday.

Gilibert expressed that any eventuality or emergency that could come about in the stadium would be seen to with communication equipment and permanent video cameras.

At every airport 66 men from a mobile squadron be installed. These have anti-explosiove units, with dogs and special personnel. As well, in each hotel, 40 men from the institution will be placed, one outside the ring, personnel from tourism police and cover police, as well as in places of training.
