4.5 Million Chinese Students Take College Entrance Exam

4.5 Million Chinese Students Take College Entrance Exam
A total of 4.53 million students across China Saturday sat for the annual college entrance exams, according to the Ministry of Education.

A ministry spokesman said that 58.4 percent of the exam takers are male, 77.6 percent are senior high school graduates and 6.7 percent are from various minority ethnic groups.

Chinese governments at all levels have taken a series of measures to make the ordeal easier for the examinees, including noise control and transportation privileges.

In south China's Guangdong Province, where torrential rain brought on by Typhoon Utor hit most places, the examination is being conducted normally, and the bad weather is not having any serious adverse impact on the 220,000 examinees in the province.

The exam will last three days.
