China, Mozambique Set up Joint Economic Commission

The governments of Mozambique and China signed an agreement Friday in Maputo to set up a joint economic and commercial commission.

According to a press release from the Chinese Embassy in Mozambique, the purpose of the new commission is "joint definition of programming and follow-up mechanisms for economic and commercial cooperation, in order to guarantee strengthened cooperation between the two countries".

Signing the agreement were Mozambique's Deputy Foreign Minister Frances Rodrigues and Chinese Ambassador Chen Duqing.
