The largest auto show, to be held August in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province will attract international automakers like GM, Ford, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen, along with domestic automobile manufacturers, sources said.
The organizing committee of the Changchun International Auto Show said 450 companies will take part in the show, including 16 car manufacturers and dealers from the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy, the Republic of Korea and Sweden.
The local government invested 700 million yuan (84 million US dollars) to build a 75,000-square-meter car exhibition hall for the show, sources said.
Changchun is reputed as the "cradle of China's auto industry" as the FAW, the First Automobile Works, was founded here in 1953. The city held a large international auto show in 1999.
