Japan Edges Chinese Taipei 3-0 in World Championship QualifierJapan edged Chinese Taipei 3-0 in a match for the 2002 World Women's Volleyball Championship Asian Qualification Pool C in Bangkok on Friday.The three sets scores were 25-19, 25-19, 25-18. On Saturday, Japan will play Uzbekistan, which lost 3-0 to the hosts Thailand Friday in front of more than 4,000 spectators. The four teams of Japan, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Thailand are competing in this three-day, round-robin event. The top two teams will advance to the finals in Germany in August. Twenty-four teams will compete in the finals. Only the hosts Germany and reigning champions Cuba qualify automatically.
