Ethiopia Delivers Document on War Compensation

Ethiopia has delivered a document consisting of procedural matters to the meeting of the United Nations Compensation Commission which was held from July 1 to 3 in the Hague, the Netherlands, the Ethiopian News Agency reported Friday in Addis Ababa.

Seifesilassie Lemma, the Legal Affairs Director of the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry, said that in its sessions, the Compensation Commission has held discussions on the procedural matters of war compensation presented by the two countries, namely Ethiopia and Eritrea.

The commission has decided to inform the two sides about its decision shortly, Seifesilassie said.

Since the end of a two-year border conflict, Ethiopia and Eritrea have discussed the issue of compensation, but no agreements have been reached between the two sides.

In a related development, Ethiopia has recently presented its document on the border issue with supporting evidence to the Ethiopia and Eritrea Border Commission.
