Chinese Trade Minister Stresses Sino-Mongolian Trade

China and Mongolia should encourage enterprises with good business records to participate in border trade and also invest in each other, a Chinese trade official said Friday.

Shi Guangsheng, minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, made the remark while meeting with visiting Mongolian Infrastructure Minister Byambagiin Jigjid.

China will, as always, support and actively promote bilateral trade and economic cooperation, Shi said, stressing that there is still big room to develop the bilateral trade, though the trade volume hit 230 million U.S. dollars last year.

Both countries should encourage the border trade, in the meantime the two should enhance the management of border trade and crack down on illegal trading activities, he said.

He pointed out that the two should join hands to develop transportation facilities for bilateral trade, which is beneficial to both sides.

He also extended thanks to Jigjid for Mongolia's support for China's entry into the World Trade Organization.

While extending thanks to China for its help to Mongolia, Jigjid hoped that the bilateral trade and economic cooperation would be developed on a larger scale.

Jigjid and An Min, vice minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, signed an agreement on bilateral economic and technology cooperation this morning.

Jigjid is here at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.
