Musharraf, Vajpayee to Hold One-to-One Talks

Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee will hold one-to-one talks during Musharraf's visit to India beginning on July 14, said Foreign Office spokesman Riaz Muhammad Khan in a press briefing Friday.

He said, "we are looking forward for a positive result of the summit. We hope there will be progress in addressing the Kashmir issue and the summit will lead to a new chapter of normal and good relations."

Riaz said there would be one-to-one talks between Musharraf and Vajpayee. The two leaders would be joined by their delegations following their one-on-one meeting, he added.

He said there would be no agenda for the summit. However, "the summit should focus on the question of Kashmir," He observed, adding "Kashmir is the root cause of tension between Pakistan and India. The issue has to be meaningful addressed."

He expressed the hope that the summit would lead to the " process which leads for the solution of the Kashmir problem in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people."
