Dead DPRK Serviceman Found in S.Korean River

A dead serviceman wearing Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) army uniform was found Thursday morning, in the Imjin River in Yonchon, South Korea, according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

A South Korean army guard post found an unidentified object in the river at 10:50 a.m. Thursday and fired tens of shots at it but saw no response from it, said the JCS.

At 2:25 p.m., the South Korean army discovered a dead body in DPRK army uniform with first lieutenant's insignia in the downstream of the river, whose upper reaches are in the DPRK.

The DPRK armyman was believed to have drowned in the river two to three days ago, said the military.
