Helicopter Crash in S. Korea Kills 6 People
A helicopter slammed into an electricity tower and plunged into the sea Thursday, killing six people including the head of South Korea's third-largest steel company, police said. Four people were injured and two others were missing.
Kim Jong-jin, chairman of Dongkuk Steel Mill Co. was among those killed when the helicopter with 12 people aboard crashed in a driving rain, police said.
Rescuers were searching an area off Chinhae, a port city 173 miles south of Seoul, for the two missing people.
"It was raining hard and the visibility was not good at the time of the accident," said Chung Soon-wook, a maritime police lieutenant at Chinhae.
Those on board included Kim, four other Dongkuk officials and four Daewoo officials. The helicopter was flying to a shipyard run by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Maritime Engineering Co., Chung said.
