The bilateral ties have resulted in all-round development in the past two years, he added. Both developing countries, China and Papua New Guinea share a common interest in and responsibility for safeguarding regional peace and stability, and promoting domestic economic prosperity, he noted. Fu stressed that China attaches great importance to its relations with Papua New Guinea, and is satisfied with the current relations in the military field. He voiced his hope that the two armed forces would conduct more exchanges and cooperation to further the bilateral relations between the two states and armed forces. Fu reaffirmed the Chinese government's stance on the Taiwan issue, and thanked Papua New Guinea for its adherence to the one- China stance. Genia said that Papua New Guinea and China have maintained good relations, with frequent exchanges of visits and fruitful cooperation in the political and economic fields. Papua New Guinea would like to learn from China's experience in its reform and opening-up drive, and will further its state and military relations with China.
