Mongolian President Meets Chinese Foregn MinisterMongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandy said Wednesday in Ulan Bator that Mongolia adheres to the principle of developing long-term good neighborly ties with China based on mutual benefit and equal footing.He made the remark during a meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan who arrived here Tuesday for a three- day official visit to the country. The president said that it stands as the top priority in Mongolia's foreign policy to develop good ties with China and Russia, Mongolia's two neighbors, in a balanced manner. The Mongolian president pledged to make joint efforts with China for the further advancement of bilateral ties based on the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries signed in 1994 and a joint declaration issued in 1998. At the meeting, Tang Jiaxuan conveyed greetings and wishes from Chinese President Jiang Zemin to Bagabandy, and also congratulations for Bagabandy's re-election as the president of Mongolia. Tang said that China attaches great importance to developing comprehensive and friendly relations with Mongolia, and is satisfied with the smooth development of bilateral ties in various fields in recent years. China respects Mongolia's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and will not interfere with the internal affairs of Mongolia, said the Chinese top diplomat. He added that China respects Mongolia's status of being a nuclear-free zone, and the Mongolian people's choice for their way of national development. China will stick to its set principle of developing good neighborly ties with Mongolia regardless of changes in the world arena, said Tang. Also on Wednesday, Tang met with Mongolian Prime Minister Nambaryn Enkhbayar and Vice Chairman of the State Great Hural (parliament) Jamsrangyn Byambadorj. He exchanged views with his Mongolian counterpart Luvsangiin Erdenechuluun on bilateral ties and regional and international issues on Tuesday. |
