China Wins Six-Nation Women's Field Hockey Tournament
The Chinese national team beat their South Korean opponents for the second time to win the trophy of the six-nation women's field hockey tournament Wednesday in Seoul.
The Chinese team, which beat hosts South Korea 6-1 in preliminaries, could not break the South Korean defense line in the final and were forced to play the extra time.
Two seconds before the conclusion of the extra, the Chinese team finally opened the scoring and the golden goal gave them the title and a prize of 15000 U.S. dollars.
In the third place playoff, Australia beat England 8-4 while Japan edged the United States after a penalty shoot-out to finish fifth in the tournament.
