Social Scientists Discuss Jiang's Speech

Scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) convened Wednesday to discuss the speech made by Jiang Zemin, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at a grand gathering Sunday marking the 80th founding anniversary of the CPC.

Li Shenming, vice president of the CASS, said Jiang's speech is a creative development of Marxism, Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory and also a great contribution to Marxism.

Li said he hopes that social scientists thoroughly study Jiang' s speech and explore new ways in social scientific research.

The social scientists who attended the meeting said Jiang's speech would further urge all the Party members to emancipate their minds and seek truth from facts.

They said that Jiang has raised many new questions faced by the country and the Party in the new century and their solutions. They vowed to make new contributions to further the development and prosperity of social sciences.
