Hongkong e-Post Enhances Economy of Scale for Enterprises

Over 100 million mails have been delivered safely and speedily to the hands of the recipients with Hongkong e-Post since the service was launched four years ago.

Through the use of wholly computerized and automated systems, Hongkong Post's specially assigned personnel will process electronic data provided by its clients into mails for bulk printing, enveloping, posting and distribution to the customers - normally all within only two days.

Making use of the service, big and small enterprises as well as public organizations wanting to send mails to thousands of their customers just need to pass their data to Hongkong Post and let it take care of everything else.

This one-stop service of Hongkong e-Post, which was first introduced by the Hongkong Post in June 1997, helps users to save their resources and time and enables them to focus more on their core business so as to achieve greater economy of scale.

Hongkong Post's Local Mail Manager Lee Chun-wah, who is responsible for promoting the local mail service, said Hongkong e- Post is eminently suitable for enterprises that need to print and send out large quantity of account statements, invoices and other communications, such as banks, telecommunication companies and public organizations.

There are at present two e-Post centers operated by a total of 14 staff members. The two centers can handle more than 180,000 mails per day.

Users of Hongkong e-Post can provide Hongkong Post with data in different mediums, such as floppy disks, CD-ROMs, computer tapes or dataline. The data received will be processed and transferred through the computer to high-speed laser printers.

The printed documents are then fed through an automatic inserting machine and enclosed into envelopes.

Apart from the document, additional inserts can also be included using the enveloper. The letters are then moved to the sorting office for immediate sorting and delivery.
