Singapore, US Navies Stage Bilateral CARAT Exercise
The Republic of Singapore Navy ( RSN) and the United States Navy are participating in a bilateral exercise from July 2 to July 14 to promote and increase interoperability and professional cooperation between the two navies.
An opening ceremony for the annual Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2001 was held at the newly-built Changi Naval base of Singapore Monday with RSN Fleet Commander, Rear-Admiral Sim Gim Guan and USN Commander Logistics Western Pacific, Rear- Admiral Mark Edwards jointly officiating at the event.
CARAT 2001 is the seventh in a series of exercises between the USN and the Singapore Armed Forces, which dates back to 1995.
