Jiang Zemin, gerneral secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with representatives of outstanding CPC grassroots units, outstanding CPC members and outstanding staff members engaged in Party work, Monday.

The representatives had just been commended at a grand gathering marking the 80th founding anniversary of the CPC Sunday.

Jiang encouraged the representatives to carry forward the good traditions and fine work styles created by all the CPC members during the past 80 years, and to contribute even more to the country and the people.

Hu Jintao and Wei Jianxing, both members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC's Central Committee, also attended the meeting.
