Bangladesh to Seek More Chinese Investment

Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Syed Muazzem Ali left Dhaka Saturday for Beijing, leading a four-member delegation on a four-day visit.

While talking to newsmen on Thursday at his chamber, Ali said that he would discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations which was growing in recent years. Political, economic and investments issues would come up at the talks.

Bangladesh which exported goods worth US$14.2 million in 1999, imported goods worth US$700 million from China.

China has so far invested over US$83 million in Bangladesh in 41 industries, and around US$20 million came during the tenure of the present government.
