"Spirit of Hong Kong" Completes Round-the-World Voyage
After racing across more than 30, 000 miles of open sea, the crew of the "Spirit of Hong Kong" crossed the finishing line of the "British Telecommunications (BT) Global Challenge" Saturday, according to a government press release issued Sunday.
The 72-foot "Spirit of Hong Kong" arrived at 2.45 PM on June 30 in Southampton, England where the crew first set sail on their adventure 10 months ago. Of the 12 yachts joining the race, it came sixth.
The yacht was built in China's mainland and is sponsored by Invest Hong Kong, the government department responsible for attracting inward investment.
Invest Hong Kong will host 10 corporate sails on board it in Southampton between July and September 2001, targeting major corporations and leading businesses that are considering expanding into Asia.
