Iran Welcomes Annan's Re-Appointment as U.N. ChiefIran on Saturday extended a welcome to the re-appointment of Kofi Annan as the United Nations secretary general.The U.N. General Assembly appointed Annan by acclamation to a second five-year term as the U.N. secretary general on Friday. Iran wished Annan success as before in his efforts to help achieve peace and security worldwide, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told the official IRNA news agency. He expressed hope that Annan's re-appointment would further clear the way for fulfilling the priorities of the U.N. and its secretariat. Iran will continue its cooperation and exchange of viewpoints with Annan and the U.N. in the future, the spokesman said.
