Exhibition Room for Deng Xiaoping in Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao

Memorial rooms for later Chinese leaders Deng Xiaoping and Chen Yun have been added to those for Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi and Zhu De at the Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao, which is located in Tian'anmen Square, in central Beijing.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) recently made the decision to open the two rooms for Deng and Chen in the memorial hall which has had special exhibition cells for Mao, Zhou, Liu and Zhu since 1983.

The six exhibition room in the memorial building will be opened to the public beginning July 1, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.

The six men are regarded as the best representatives of CPC members and have contributed their lives to the independence and liberation of the Chinese nation, the unification and prosperity of China, and the common wealth of the Chinese people.

On show in the six rooms will be 102 relics, 490 pictures and 224 documents, as well as a newly-shot, 20-minute documentary titled "Commemoration," in memory of the six leaders.

More advanced technology and equipment has been introduced in the memorial hall during its latest restoration which began in July 1999.

Construction of the memorial hall started in November 1976 and was completed on September 9, 1977, the first anniversary of the death of Mao.
