Angola to Reinforce Friendly Relations With China

Roberto de Almeida, president of the Angolan National Assembly (ANA), reiterated Thursday in Luanda that his country will further develop its friendly and cooperative relations with China.

During a meeting with visiting Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Wu Quanxu, Almeida said that the Angolan government appreciates the efforts the Chinese government has made to help achieve peace in Angola.

Mentioning his recent visit to China, Almeida said that he admires China's achievements in the economic construction.

Meanwhile, he reiterated the Angolan government's perseverance in One China Policy.

General Wu appreciated the just stand of the Angolan government and its support for China on the issue of human rights, saying that China attaches great importance to developing its friendly relations with Angola and hopes to further enhance such relationship.

Wu hailed the achievements made by the Angolan government and expressed his support for its efforts towards the country's peace process.

During the meeting, Wu conveyed well-wishes from Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, to Almeida.

Wu, who is leading a Chinese military delegation, arrived here on Wednesday for a two-day visit to Angola after his visit to Nigeria and Cameroon.
